Wow. I have wished movies were over about half-way through plenty of times before. What was a new experience for me was the distinct feeling that I was personally being made fun of by whoever wrote this piece of garbage! With a budget reported at over $300 million dollars... more money was spent on this 2 hour and 45 minute torture device than 11 COUNTRIES in the world make in a year! (They are listed here if you care to check which ones). You might think that SOME of that money might be spent on a script that didn't insult the audience's intelligence. Whatever, I'm sure it will win some sort of Oscar or some crap... it had some computer generated boats and pretty people in old-looking costumes, who needs a story arc that makes any sense when you have Squid-boy vs. Drunken Makeup Pirate Guy sword fights?
Save yourself the $73 or however much it costs to see a movie in the USA these days- if you really want the "POTC 3" (as Disney has so hiply nicknamed the movie for us) experience, I have a plan for you:
So you want to have a date night with your wife. Take her out to a nice dinner, dazzle her with your clever banter and witty observations about the poor, unsuspecting strangers seated around you. Then, once you've had enough intellectual engagement, you're ready for the "POTC 3" experience. Hop in the car and drive to your nearest movie complex. Instead of buying two tickets with your Gold Card, however, park the car, and pop the trunk. Once you've gotten to the spare tire kit in the trunk, locate the tire iron. Then while you sit next to your lovely wife, take turns dulling each other's senses with the tire iron...
...The plot is the same (as far as I could tell anyway). The sense of drama and suspense is accually better with the tire iron.
